French-american fusion inspired brunch place – Cafe chalet

Oui oui mon cheri!

To be honest, I just blubbered some random French words I know. I mean who wouldn’t spew some random French words if you discovered this little quaint restaurant in the heart of the city.

Located at the corner of a street in Ecoland Subdivision, Davao City, resides a beautiful cafe that will transport you to Paris.

Cafe Chalet stands out with its emerald green and white painted building that invites you in to taste their specialty coffees and the many brunch meals they offer.

There aren’t any brunch options in Davao City but if your friends want to build brunch clubs like Taylor Swift does then might as well consider Cafe Chalet because not only do they offer amazing buttery croissant, they also serve delicious brunch platters and pair it with their signature drink or a poison of your choice if you enjoy cocktails and wines.

They offer a lot of drinks from comforting hot French chocolate to their signature and specialty drink like the cereal flavored drink called Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte or as I call it a “childhood’s dream drink”.

The price may not be for everyone’s budget but I guarantee you if you want to impress a date or would like to have an enjoyable time catching up with your friends over brunch, this is the place for you.

How to Get There

Cafe Chalet is located at 3rd Street corner 4th-B Street, Ecoland Subd Phase 1, Davao City, Philippines.
They are open every day from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM and can occupy an estimate of 30-40 pax with an outdoor dining. Payment method is only cash and G-cash.

The Place and The Ambiance

Cafe Chalet has a very clean monotoned color profile with black and white walls and flooring with pretty marbled tables. For simple colors, it is very elegant yet bright.
It is very well-lit and makes good use of the sunlight. The aesthetic invites people to simply just take pictures and portraits because the lighting is beautiful.

It is also very quiet and uncrowded especially on Sundays which makes it a perfect spot to hide out and enjoy a serene afternoon with a hot cup of coffee and a croissant.

They also have a lot of outlets for people who would like to study and work.

I also took a picture of their comfort room because it’s very pretty and clean.

The Spending

Cafe Chalet offers a variety of dishes and drinks. From hot warm coffee, specialty drinks, to cocktails and wines. Although, price range is a little expensive it provides a nice and enjoyable brunch experience. The food costs around PHP 300 to PHP 500 per plate which is only good for one pax. However, the serving is enough and food is very enjoyable.

Their drinks can range up to PHP 150 to PHP 300 for coffees and non-coffee beverages.

They also offer liquors and cocktails that can range from PHP 100 – PHP 400 for their shots and glasses while their wine can be around PHP 500 to PHP 800

Review

I’ve been to Cafe Chalet multiple times and it has always been a pleasant experience every time.

Most, especially now that they added more selections on their menu.

I have enjoyed their specialty coffees such as cinnamon toast crunch latte and their matcha affogato.

The cinnamon toast crunch latte may not be for everyone as it is too sweet. I refer to it as a child’s drink. It’s something that can make you happy drinking as a child so it is a pleasant experience however, I don’t recommend it for people who are pre-diabetic or diabetic.

The matcha affogato is an experience. You pour a viscous green mixture over I assume is their home-made vanilla ice cream. It is quite a joy to mix and taste the drink. I must say it is not the matcha taste that I actually look for but it is certainly not pre-mixed or the cheap type you buy over Shopee. It has some minty undertone on it as well.

The food and service is great as well.

I quite enjoyed their fries as it has a crispy texture but very soft when you bite into it. It provides a sensory experience if you are a texture person. Their fries are very well seasoned with I suspect has rosemary, oregano, salt and pepper. Their sausages are nice and their croissant has a good texture as well although it is on the soft side. I do prefer my croissants very crispy on the outside and has a crunch and soft on the inside.

Their bagel is also scrumptious and toasted into crunch. With two servings of eggs, you can opt for it to be scrambled, made as an omelette or sunny side up, or poached.

I don’t like the sauce for their croisswich (croissant + sandwich) as I feel like it’s a concoction of a thousand dressing or reminds me of that dressing.

Their brown butter miso cookie skillet is delectable! It’s smores but with some pretzels inside which is very enjoyable to eat. I do enjoy my cookies having salty undertones which they delivered.

Their staff is very nice and the place is really clean.

Their comfort room is really clean and well maintained. However, it lacks any bidet so they only offer tissues. This comment is specifically for the people who easily get bad tummies like me.

Overall, I can say this cafe is 4/5 so far! Next time will try the night experience at Cafe Chalet.
