Don’t you love discovering little restaurants that is easy to miss out?
I do!
There’s a little food haven that offers flavor fusions from different countries in Southeast Asia that’s really accessible but easy to miss out. This little restaurant is called D Little Dynasty.

D Little Dynasty have Chinese cuisine as their base cuisine but they also serve different cuisines from Southeast Asia such as salted egg shrimps that is a popularly known dish associated with Singapore, fried tofu in sambal sauce which is a popular sauce in Malaysia, laksa which may be commonly associated as a Thai cuisine, and different dumplings and Chinese buns that is still palatable for Filipino tongue.

If you enjoy flavorful food packed with delicious spices and if you want to tour Southeast Asia without leaving Davao, then you need to visit D Little Dynasty. The best thing about it is that it is very affordable and a good alternative for Chowking.
How to Get There
D Little Dynasty is easy to locate. It’s just a small restaurant tucked inside the building of Plaza Del Carmen building, in Loyola Street, Obrero, Davao City. The restaurant is close every monday but opens Tuesday to Saturday everyday at 10:00AM to 8:00PM.
Payment method is Cash and G-Cash.
The Place and The Ambiance
The restaurant is small and can only accommodate a few number of tables. I have estimated that there are only five tables good for four people but they do have another separate room that is also equally small. Don’t expect for an aesthetic restaurant but the food is what will make you come back for.
I think at this age, it might be easy to miss out because it doesn’t seem aesthetic but if you’re the type of person not to snub a restaurant because of it’s aesthetic then you will have a flavorful experience. For people who snub restaurants, then you’re missing out.
I will not say it’s gourmet but the food is very flavorful and budget friendly.
If you go as a group, I would recommend to contact for reservation and to go earlier prior the peak hours.
It’s very clean and air conditioning works really well so you wouldn’t worry on the temperature if the room is packed.
The Spending
The restaurant offers a variety of selections. They have rice toppings, noodles, noodle soup, dumplings and buns, and for sharing plates.
Their rice topping would not be more than P200 and their buns and dumplings cost around P40 to P155 pesos only. Their a la carte meals (food to share) isn’t expensive and has a big serving that can serve up to 2-3 person. You can order as low as P160 for fried tofu to P590, the most expensive dish, which is 400 grams of fish and tofu pot.

They also serve steamed or sweet and sour lapu-lapu or steamed pompano depending on the market price of the day.
They offer standard drinks only like soda in can, nestea in pitcher or in glass and bottled water.
They offer two types of dessert only which is the black and white sago and mango sago.
Review
I discovered D Little Dynasty because I found my gym coach posting food on their Instagram and I asked them where it is.
The following days, I went out with my partner and decided to find this little restaurant.
To be honest, the vibes feel like a standard short-order takeout restaurant. Don’t expect anything gourmet level food but despite the food is budget friendly, delicious, and satisfying for its price.
We ordered a lot of food because it wasn’t too expensive as we were expecting a pricier restaurant because the food looked gorgeous on my coach’s Instagram. We tried the following – Spicy Wontons, Fried Tofu on Sambal Sauce, Yangchow Rice, Kwapao Pork, steamed dumpling 6pcs, and my favorite Shrimps with Salted Egg. We also ordered the two different desserts. All of those and we paid only around P900.

Truthfully, I loved their fried tofu on sambal sauce. If you can see on the picture the tofu is really firm and cut in huge chunks. It soaked the sambal sauce which was a bit spicy and peppery which was a perfect explosion of flavor. Their dumplings isn’t something extraordinary.
Their spicy wontons was delicious but I did prefer it to be more spicy and have that tangy flavor for their sauce. My partner and I both love spicy wontons so for us it was okay but mind you it was already flavorful. We just had a taste of better spicy wontons.

Their shrimp with salted egg was the star of what we ordered. I am very particular with the balance of butter that restaurants use between the salted egg. Some restaurants’ salted egg shrimps have more buttery flavor which outweighs the flavor profile of the salted egg but D Little Dynasty’s salted egg strike a perfect balance of the taste.
Due to the amount of food we ordered, we had to bring home the kwao pao pork but I was amazed by how generous the serving is. In each bun they put a thick slab of soy sauce seasoned pork. Imagine that pork humba from Mandarin but put it on a siopao bun with some leafy veggies. That’s how it is. However, my only comment on the kwao pao was that it lack flavor and would have been nice if it was saltier because the bun was bland.

Lastly, do not order their black and white dessert if you are not someone who loves to venture into new flavor profile. It has a medicinal aftertaste which is closer to tea. I personally did not like it. The mango sago was just mid.

Overall, I would recommend this place for friends who want to enjoy good chinese/asian cuisine but are on a budget. Great alternative for Chinese fastfood chain.
