In Pastry We Connect at Club’s Bakery Davao

“Let Pastry Connect Us.”

This is the big signage you see as you enter Club’s Bakery. Indeed, the signage rings true to this beautiful small store settled in their new location at the Snooze Inn Building in Matina Crossing, Davao City.

The moment you enter their store, the smell of fresh bread wafts through the air and invites you in for a closer look on what they have available for the day. As you get closer you are greeted with big blocks of artisan breads like sourdough, baguettes, ciabatta, focaccia, and more.

They are well-known for their French artisan breads like croissant and pain au chocolat. They offer different flavored croissant that oozes with filling in each bite. They have matcha croissant, mango, and chocolate to name a few.

They offer other puff pastries and other flavorful bread that you will end up restraining yourself from hoarding these delicious buttery goodness.

Not only that, they offer great selection of brunch meals, sandwiches, and pastas. They also provide refreshments and coffee for your caffeine fix.

How to Get There

Club’s Bakery originally was located in NHA Bangkal but now they are located in Matina Crossing before Kawayan Drive. They are situated within Snooze Inn Building so you can pin this location if you are booking via Grab or inform cab drivers of this location.

They are open every Tuesday to Sunday from 8AM to 7PM.

Their payment method is Cash and G-cash.

The Place and The Ambiance

The place is painted in clean white with a long display of fresh breads covered in glass. The place made use of the natural lighting and has a minimalistic design. They have potted plants and use wood as a natural aesthetic.

It is a nice spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or a refreshing cold beverage while taking time enjoying the pastry of your choice or brunch. They only have a few tables. At full capacity, I am estimating around 10-20 people can dine in. The store however, can accommodate a long queue for take outs.

The Spending

Club’s Bakery as the name implies is a store focused on bread, but they do offer a selection of food apart from it. They only have a few selection but provide a good selection. They offer sandwiches which made use of their croissants, ciabattas, and bagels. Sandwich price range can cost around P245 to P325.

They also offer breakfast selection which can be a great alternative if you are looking for a place that offers breakfast food anytime of the day. They offer breakfast platter, pancakes, french toast, and eggs benedicts. Their breakfast dishes can cost around P255 to P400.

They also serve pastas, rice meals, and offer specials for the day. These costs around P150 to P275.

They offer refreshments like juice or coffee. The least expensive coffee drink they have is a P90 Iced Americano and the most expensive they have is a hot Caramel Macchiato at P220. They offer dragonfruit drinks and lemonades as part of their refreshments.

Their artisan bread can cost around P150 and above. However, their mini or medium sized croissants can be bought around P55. They also have brioche breads and other typical breads that can be bought less than P100 that is good for sharing at home. One chocolate croissant at P195 can already be shared between two people as its size is big.

Review

I’m always a big fan of brunch places and pastry shops. I don’t know. There’s something about the smell of bread that’s really inviting. When I learned about Club’s Bakery, I told myself I’ll include it on my checklist. This was way back when they were in NHA, Bangkal. Now, that they are more accessible, we visited it and was met with what I was expecting – pastry heaven!

The moment you enter, you will be in awe by the amount of bread and pastry selections they offer. It is amazing that they also offer food selections and have breakfast meals.

There is not much to say about the store but that it is clean and with comfortable air conditioning. It’s aesthetically minimalistic.

As to their food which is what we came for, it did not disappoint. We automatically head on and ordered one mini butter croissant, pear crumble, and a chocolate croissant. They did heat up the pastries before serving which was a nice touch. It was so buttery and so sinful.

Truthfully, I did not expect that the chocolate croissant was oozing with chocolate cream from the inside. I thought that the croissant chocolate was just a topping but I was surprised. It was super delectable. The pear crumble was a perfect delight. It was sweet and had hints of cinnamon and such a refreshing palate cleanser. The mini croissant which is their plain one is also delicious. This is actually the croissant I really like. It is crusty and crispy on the outside but when you bite into it, it is soft and squishy. I have always been disappointed by numerous pastry shops as they could not get croissants right as they are always deflating and mushy but Club’s Bakery did not disappoint.

For the meals, we ordered their eggs benedict and their sausage breakfast platter. Their sausage breakfast platter was nothing astounding but their eggs benedict is amazing. I am very particular with the hollandaise on any eggs benedict because this is what makes it “eggs benedict”. Their hollandaise is very flavorful and have its own signature taste. Though the hollandaise isn’t generously given, it’s still delicious. It’s unique as well as they use croissant instead of the typical English muffins.

As to their drinks we ordered iced strawberry matcha and Spanish latte. The drinks we ordered are nothing special and are decent. My only gripe is that I could not taste the matcha on my drink and it was more strawberry. Other than that, everything is great. I would say I would definitely willingly grow an extra pound just to have those buttery goodness again.
