Ad Astra focuses on viennoiseries made out of sourdough bread. If you are looking for sourdough bread, they are one of the bread places offering the best sourdough. They offer the unique beef empanada croissant. Their breads are crispy outside and soft in the inside. It has a very distinct taste as it has a sour aftertaste due to the sourdough.
Must try:
Beef Empanada Croissant, Mille-Feuille, Parisian Flan, Pain Suisse
Bread Rating:
Unique flavor and nice crisp on their laminated bread. Good size for its price.
Value for Money:
Good price. Not overly expensive. Offers discounts.
Location:
Not easily located as it is not on highway and will need to enter a street. Small space. Only around 10-15 people seating capacity. May need to walk or ride a tricycle if you are commuting via jeepney. Very clean though and bright.
Variety:
Other than the breads, not many option. Around 10-15 available assortments at least at the time we visited. Limited stocks. Don’t have other meals other than bread. Only had brewed coffee and canned/bottled drinks.

Cafe Gervacios is a new branding of the known bakery – Gervacios Bakery. This is their store that offers new type of breads far from the traditional Filipino breads. Serving coffee, beverages and different meals. It’s a one-stop shop.
Must try:
Le Succes, Coffee Kouign-Amman and their Sweet Nostalgia Latte
Bread Rating:
One of the best croissant texture I’ve tried so far in Davao. Maintained a nice crisp but buttery softness inside. Delicious fillings for their kouign-amman as well.
Note, the rating is on their bread and pastries only and not on the overall food and meal.
Value for Money:
If basing only with their bread and pastries, good value for money though not all pastries (cakes) are the best.
Location:
Accessible to commuters. Really beautiful aesthetics. Spacious and well-lit and ventilated.
Variety:
Not all breads were available and only a few selections. An estimate of 10-15 bread selections at the time we dined. They offer other meals and coffee.
Special note, at the time we dined, we had a bad experience as to their service. It was slow and wait staffs were disorganized. The owner has reached out and indicated they will be improving on the service.

Club’s Bakery is a bread haven serving one of the best croissants with fillings and delicious sweet puff pastries. They are also one of the few bread place that offers BREAD BOUQUET. Other than that, they offer their breads at 50% discount once the clock strikes 6PM. They offer Italian and French breads and pastries.
Must try:
Chocolate and Matcha Croissant, Pear Crumble and Croissant Sandwiches, Ciabatta
Bread Rating:
Had the best croissant with filling. Their chocolate croissant is oozing with chocolate. Their matcha croissant is also delectable. I think they used white chocolate with matcha powder for the filling. It’s oozing with goodness. They are not stingy with the fillings. Their croissant texture though may need improvement.
Value for Money:
Expensive but great value. Bread is delicious and big. Can be shared by two. Suggest you wait for the 50% discount to buy off their bread. Go crazy! Other breads are good for its price point and its quality and taste.

Offers the best bagel I’ve tried in Davao City. They are one of the bread places that offers mostly Canadian and North American bread. If you are tired of French and Itialian breads, then this is your next stop.
Must try:
Everything Bagel, Bagel, scones and London Fog Latte
Bread Rating:
Different from typical bread shop which offers French pastries. Their breads and pastries are more American and Canadian adjacent.
Value for Money:
Bagels are priced okay. Big size and quality goodness. Fresh from the oven daily. Some pastries like their cookies are expensive though. Their scones as well for its size may not be justifiable for other people’s budget.

Small seating capacity but sufficient queuing space.

Must try:
Cream puffs and cakes
Bread Rating:
Delicious and not overly sweet breads. However, some breads at the time of dining were about to be stale. Savory breads may not be for everyone’s cup of tea but really nice change if you are a fan of Breadtalk.
Value for Money:
It is one of the bread place that is very accessible to students and young professionals due to its price point. Bread quality for each selections are not consistent.

Must try:
Yema Ensaymada, Ube Halaya Ensaymada

Some bread are already stale and not fresh. Not all flavors are good but I will vouch for their yema and ube halaya ensaymada. It’s very cheesy, savory and compliments with the sweetness.

Not fresh and some fillings don’t have good consistency. No expiry dates provided per flavor as well.
Location:
Their Loyola branch is super small. It’s just a kiosk with an alfresco dining.

Few selections and limited to ensaymada only. No meals and few selection of coffee drinks.
