It’s amazing that despite the years I’ve lived in Davao, there are still hidden gems waiting to be found in its nooks and crannies. Discovering these hidden places in the city is a different type of joy. It’s the type of feeling for gamers when they get that hidden achievement that no one really knows about except 0.01% of players. Good thing, I am one that do not gatekeep and enjoy sharing the experience to other people.
One Corner Coffee Lifestyle and Beyond is one of those cafes that I personally like because it is aesthetically curated as a coffee shop with its industrial design but at the same time it feels like you are just visiting a friend’s home. They have a garden setting as well that is spacious but designed to bring comfort and entice bonding.
The cafe is tucked in a street corner, literally! They are located in Almaciga St., Dacudao Avenue and only opens every weekends. They have a specific time and date of opening hours so you can visit their social media page – https://www.facebook.com/onecornerph for their schedule.
One Corner Coffee Lifestyle and Beyond is a testament of people coming together for the love of coffee and sharing this love to others. What started as a passion project during the pandemic in 2020 is now one of a beloved coffee shops by many people.

Food Review
When we visited at One Corner, we went crazy and tried four different drinks, their Laguna Cheesecake, BOLT sandwich, and their Spindip. Here is our review.
Down With Matcha – 8.8/10
Their Down with Matcha is a matcha latte with black lava hawaiian sea salt at P180. It’s one of the best sea salt based matcha drinks I’ve tried so far here in Davao City. The black lava hawaiian sea salt perfectly balances with the matcha latte and brings a whole new level of flavor. I enjoyed their matcha as its taste is not diluted by the milk. However, their matcha latte is on the sweeter side and is not the earthier and deeper taste of matcha that I anticipated. Overall, if you are a matcha fan, I highly recommend ordering their Down With Matcha.

Krema Catalina – 7/10
Krema Catalina is their version for creme brulee latte at P155. It’s not that sweet and you really can’t differentiate it from other latte drinks. There’s not really a big essence of the creme brulee. We found that it might be a factor that the syrup sticks at the bottom and is hard to stir as it already caramelized at the bottom of the cup. You would need to have a stirrer to scrape it all out and merely using the straw isn’t that helpful. Though we love the idea, it is a bit of a hassle to go all the trouble just to enjoy a cup of drink.
Dont Tell Reese (Peanut Butter Latte) – 9.5/10
This is my first time trying out a coffee drink with peanut butter mix and I am automatically converted into a fan. It just pinged something in my brain. It is priced at P160. I personally enjoyed it and is actually an added flavor in my palate dictionary. Who knew coffee and peanut butter pairs well together? It does remind you of a Reese buttercup. It is a super sweet coffee drink though and may not be for anyone especially those who like their coffee strong and bitter.

Give Me Smores (Cafe Mocha with Mallows) – 8.5/10
One of the most beautiful presentations for a coffee drink I’ve had is their Give Me Smores at P180. It’s a mocha drink with singed marshmallow on top. It’s an adult’s inner child’s coffee drink. One of the things I like about this drink is the thick consistency. However, I do enjoy my mocha with a bitter aftertaste. I like my mocha having that perfect balance of sweet and bitterness. Their drink is on the sweeter side.

Laguna Cheesecake – 9.2/10
Their Laguna cheesecake is a creamy decadence that is light and sinfully delightful. It is valued at P130 and is a good enough serving for its price. The creamy cheesecake, the spice, coconut flakes and the little hint of lime balances altogether. Weirdly enough, there is an aftertaste that reminds me of butternut donut. Perhaps it is the toasted coconut.

BOLT sandwich – 7/10
Their BOLT sandwich stands for bacon, onion, lettuce and tomatoes. It is priced at P175. Personally found it expensive and it was just a simple sandwich. It did have a good bacon though but less greens. The brioche bread (I assumed) is thick and filling. Nothing much that makes it stand out.
Spindip – 9/10
Priced at P160, their creamy spinach with toasted baguette is delicious. I am not a big fan of spinach but this is one that built my appetite towards it. My only gripe with their spindip is that it needed more spinach and its consistency. The top part had a cheesy outer layer but the inner was a little wet instead of it being creamy and thick. Overall, the taste is superb and would highly recommend. Four slices of toasted baguette is not enough though.

Restaurant Rating
Food:
They have unique and really good coffee concoctions to offer. Their food, though, limited is also enjoyable. We haven’t tried their coffee classics though but on account of their non-coffee and coffee specials, I can say they are all good and earn some high praises from us.
Value for money:
Their coffee drink is served in a small cup (more like a regular sized coffee from other coffee shops). Perhaps an estimate of 12 oz (unsure). I think their food and coffee is on the expensive side but you do get the value of your money.
Location:
The place is aesthetically beautiful and personally I find it a very loved place. What I mean by that is that it isn’t just designed to attract customers, it seems like there was heart on the design and speaks more of the passion behind the humans of One Corner.
The garden setting is also very beautiful and planned to maximize the area but still did not rob off the homey vibes. If there is anything I can note for improvement is that they could add ceiling fans on the veranda so that air could circulate better especially during afternoon when the sun is at its peak and the air conditioned area is full of customers.
The place is a little bit tricky to find as it is within a subdivision and is not too accessible for public commuters. Also, they are only open on weekends.
Service:
Great service. Really clean place and very helpful baristas. They were considerate enough to ask their customers what type of drink they are looking for and suggest what to try base on the customer’s preference.
Variety:
Unique selection of drinks but food is limited. When we dined, they only served snack meals and no rice meals. They only serve sandwiches, finger foods and a select dessert. They do have specials or themed food and drinks.
