I discovered Mithi Resort and Spa from a Youtube vlog by “Always Be Changing”, an American family featuring the Philippines. That video inspired me to someday book a room at the resort because it was beautiful and unique.

It is one of the best beach resorts I have been to and is the first luxurious 5-star resort I have ever stepped foot on. As an introvert, it is a welcome experience to go into a secluded resort far from the thriving and party vibes in the central beach area of Panglao island. Though this is my first 5-star experience, Mithi sets a high standard.
Mithi (mit-hee) is a 14-hectare beachfront property in Dauis, Bohol with a 500-meter stretch of pristine white-sand beach all to be enjoyed by its client. It is also one of the resorts in Bohol that offers you a mythical trip to their dreamy and beautiful private islet. You can enjoy and take beautiful photos without having to worry about the crowd.

They are also one of the few resorts in Bohol that has their own cave pool. You don’t have to line up to take a dip in cave pool waters at the Hinagdanan Cave because you can enjoy their private cave pool. Their outdoor pool is also spacious and beautifully aligned with their tropical lush vibe. It features their beautiful pyramid-shaped villas that are beautiful inside and out.
Their facilities offer game rooms, a wellness spa, a restaurant where you can enjoy good food, and large sports facilities like tennis courts and the current trending sports – pickleball and more.
If you enjoy privacy and tranquility over the party crowd, then this is one of the best places in Bohol I would highly recommend if budget were not a question.
Pricing
Mithi offers three types of rooms, and depending on the location, the pricing varies:
Superior Room – This room is the least expensive and the most viable option for working-class people who want to treat themselves without burning through their savings to enjoy at least one night. It’s ideal for couples. This is the room we could afford, so we booked it on Agoda for ₱8,522.88. We made the reservation in November 2024, which is off-peak season. The normal price starts at ₱12,000 per night.
Their superior room features a queen-size bed with a garden view. There is a separate and wide room for the toilet and shower. It also includes a walk-in closet and a television that can mirror your phone or watch streaming platforms. The stay also includes a buffet breakfast and access to all their facilities, including the islet and cave pools.
Deluxe Villa – this villa has either 2-queen size beds or 1 king-size bed at your option with a garden view. Best for families or friends. Their Deluxe Villa starts around the range of P17,000 a night.
Their Seaview Villa is their honeymoon suite that provides a scenic view of the ocean. An ideal villa for honeymooners offering a private outdoor jacuzzi, sun loungers, and a living area. The price range starts at P31,500 a night.
They only have one restaurant that offers a limited menu but is of a mix of Filipino, Asian, and European cuisines. It has a price range that starts at P300 for a decent meal.

Review
Unlike Boracay Island, the land area for Bohol is larger. The tourist area full of beach resorts is on Panglao Island. Alonan Beach Resort is the central district where all party areas, food stalls, and merchants are located. As a person who enjoys tranquility, we tried to book a hotel as far as possible to Alonan beach. On our last day, I decided to splurge and opted to check in to Mithi Resort and Spa and it was one of the most financially spontaneous but great choices I made.
Transportation
Traversing from one spot to another in Bohol may prove difficult if you don’t have a private vehicle or if you don’t have contact with their local tricycles or tuk-tuks. As Mithi is far from the central area and the transportation can be tricky, you may want to secure an agreement with local tricycles or private vehicles.
Going to Mithi from Alonan Beach isn’t that difficult because there are a lot of willing tricycles to drive you to the location for the right price. However, getting back to the business central from Mithi is difficult because there are little to no tricycles queueing up to drive you.
There aren’t that many establishments like restaurants or grocery stores so getting food or purchasing items ahead of time in the business/tourist center would save you the trouble. For two people from Alonan to Mithi cost P500 pesos but we had to look for and haggle with several drivers to pay P300.
To the airport, it would take around 15-20 minutes. They do have a shuttle didn’t inquire if it was free or with charge. What we did was hire a van for P2,000 but the P2,000 which includes a scenic tour of the Bohol countryside before heading to the airport.
Facilities
Upon our arrival in Mithi, we were driven in a golf cart because the area was too large to walk. We were greeted by their staff and were provided welcome refreshments by their concierge. They gave us a map to show the facilities.
One of the facilities that intrigued me the most was their private cave pool. However, their cave pool is only available for certain hours of the day. If I remember correctly, it only opens from 9AM to 12 NN. Since check-in time is at 2PM, we weren’t able to visit the cave pool upon arrival. But the next day, we visited the pool and found it eerily amazing. However, I could see that some people wouldn’t be fond of it. The stairs leading down aren’t PWD-friendly and can be slippery, especially with wet slippers. The cave is quite warm, but the water is too cold. The pool is also very deep and wearing a life vest is required.

The depth would be at an estimate of 7-15 feet. There aren’t any lifeguards. You have to inform their helpdesk to make them aware and to provide you, someone, to accompany you with. This caving system seems connected to the main caves like Hinagdanan Cave – at least, that’s what I gathered from the staff. Bats are flying around while you swim and being alone there is scary. It’s also a little too enclosed and for people who have claustrophobia can be anxiety-inducing.

The area is very beautiful and serene. Fewer people crowd the space because each villa is far from the other. The only time you get to see people is when you reach their cafe which is conveniently located across their infinity pool. Their pool is large and stunning with a lush tropical design. You can order food, and they also offer happy hour time which kudos to them they offer decent cocktails. You can also request towels from the staff, and they will happily provide it for you.

Their beach is also a wide stretch of white sand, and you will not feel very anxious sporting your favorite bikini because there are fewer people. However, the beach lacks some shade and some sun lounges. Though quite a few people, it still lacked sun lounges.
They offer water activities like crystal kayak, jetski, and the like. They also offer a kayak or boat trip to their private islet. However, we were not able to go to the islet at the time because there was a photoshoot.

They have a wellness spa next to their gym and game room. The game room, however, was smaller than expected, with only a pool table, foosball, and sungka available. The gym isn’t particularly impressive either; it only has the typical equipment like treadmills. There is also another pool close to the wellness spa. The area is very beautiful, though, as it overlooks the sea and is situated near a cliff.

We weren’t able to visit their tennis court but what was amazing was that they also have a pickleball court. I play pickleball and wanted to play but I had no one to play with at the time. I also wanted to maximize the day to chill rather than do anything strenuous.
Room
Next stop, our room. I was amazed by how large the bed was. The area is spacious, and it has a patio that showcases their well-manicured garden. There is a door leading to a walk-in closet and two sub-rooms that the toilet on the first door and the shower on the second. The television is large enough that two to three hours of our stay was wasted on watching Netflix series. It is well-ventilated.
There is free food like their peanut cookies, coffee, tea, and water. There is also a free tote bag for your laundry and bathrobes to use. As the facilities are farther from each other, you can call up the front desk to order a golf cart service.
Food
Their food is really expensive, and while decent, it doesn’t quite match the quality standards of the rest of the resort. That is one of the downsides of booking at Mithi. The food servings are generous, but they are overpriced, especially considering the quality. There aren’t many options, especially when it comes to coffee, cakes, or pastries. Their breakfast buffet is also decent but could use more variety. They only have a few bread options unlike other hotels and the selection of meats is limited. They do have danggit which is nice.

One of the things I really loved on their menu is their sikwate or hot chocolate. I had to order two cups in one sitting because it was that good and hearty. Other than that, no dish really sticks out. The cafe/restaurant is beautiful though.

Overall, this experience was fantastic and well-deserved because I have been slaving myself with my work for the past few months. I know there are other 5-star hotels in Bohol but we chose this because of its serene atmosphere and far from the crowd. While it is a good thing for people who prefer peace and quiet, it also has its downside, as it is far from establishments like restaurants. That said, there’s plenty to see in the area. There are many activities so you may not want to leave the resort anyway. The main issue, however, is the food selection and Bohol doesn’t have services like Grab or Food Panda. While there may be better places out there, Mithi has definitely set a standard for me.
