Davao: What to Expect At Acacia Hotel

Everyone, at some point in their lives, wants and deserves a break from all the stress and hassle of everyday life. But not everyone has the luxury to hop on the next plane and go to a paradise island. Luckily for the locals in Davao City, there are many options to book a place for a staycation. One of the many hotels and resorts that a lot of people opt to stay at within the city is Acacia Hotel Davao. It’s a 4-star hotel that opened in 2019. One of its edges in booking this place is its prime location. It is in the heart of the city, has a close proximity to a mall – SM Lanang Premiere – and is close to the airport.

Based on our overnight stay, here is a guide based on our experience that can help you decide whether Acacia Hotel is the best place for you.

Price and Total Cost

I booked my stay via Agoda for leisure.
1 – Deluxe King Room good for 2 pax at P4,933.57
Plus Taxes and Fees of P1,016.53
Total of P5,950.00

In-room services estimate: P1,150 for food (See Food and Breakfast Buffet section)
Total estimated cost for the stay, excluding any expenses incurred outside the hotel: P7,100.00

Price may differ depending on the room type, season, and available promotions at the time, but this would give you a very rough estimate of how much one night is. This price is as of November 2025.

Inclusions for this: Breakfast buffet at Waling Waling Cafe, free fitness centre entry, and free wifi for two. We were booked on the 7th floor with SM Lanang as our view and their pool, that was currently under maintenance.

Pro-tip: If you have a credit card, always check out your credit card promotions, as they sometimes provide discounts to Acacia Hotel. You can book directly with Acacia to avail of the discount. Travel bazaars also provide coupons you can use when checking in

Beware: Many scam artists create fake hotel Facebook pages. Always ensure to book directly or contact directly the Acacia Hotels website. Validate the legitimacy of the page. If it’s too good to be true, chances are it’s a scam.

Room

The room was very spacious and clean. It had a table linked to the wall with an orange chair. It also had a brown sofa with a table that was great for when ordering food in. The bed is large enough to fit a maximum of 3 people, as it is king-size. It had several lights that were conveniently placed. Their TV is not a smart TV and is difficult to manipulate. It didn’t have any working channels, and you can only screen share through your phone to enjoy the television if that is even an available function for your mobile device. It is a nice place for a small gathering with friends because of its space, and you can connect an HDMI to the TV for streaming from your laptop or game device.

Bathrooms were clean with the usual toiletries and towels. They have conditioning shampoo and bathroom gel. A dedicated facial mirror. Hot and cold water shower, bidet, tissue, and a working flush and a good shower draining system. Their rooms were clean, even the corners of the bathrooms.

They had a pair of bathrobes that were clean. There is a chiller; you can bring in food or drinks. Water jug: You can request to refill. Complimentary coffee and teas as well. Their air conditioner is new and works really well. However, it doesn’t have a remote, and the settings are placed on the wall, so adjusting requires you to stand up. Numerous outlets for device charging are placed near the edges of the bed.

Here is a complete list of the inclusions based on memory:

  • King-sized bed
  • Sofa + Table
  • Wall Table + Orange Chair

Services

Checking in: Upon entrance, they will require all bags to be placed on their bag-checking device, the same as what you do at airports. Upon checking in at their lobby, a bellboy would assist you with your luggage. Their receptionist will confirm your room, request a copy of your ID, indicate your room number and your wifi access, provide a key card, and explain the available or unavailable amenities. At the time we checked in, their pool was out of service. There are no upfront incidental deposits, which is nice. Check-in time is 3PM and check-out time is 11AM. I was not able to inquire if there is an additional charge for early check-in.

Amenities: There are two restaurants, as far as I remember. Waling-waling cafe, just the room on the left upon entering the establishment. This is where the breakfast buffet is served. There is also another restaurant on the third floor, which is the Luk Foo Palace, a famous Chinese cuisine restaurant.

They have a small lobby cafe, which is an extension of the Waling-waling cafe, wherein you can order refreshments, cakes, salads, and sandwiches. They offer a 30% discount on all breads at a certain time in the afternoon. They have a happy hour for their cocktails.

They have a fitness center free for use and a pool, but the pool was unavailable at the time. They also have function halls for hosting events.

Room Services: Their elevators are keycard-automated. You can only reach certain floors based on your keycard access. They allow food deliveries but only pick-up at the lobby. You can order food from the restaurant at a certain time and get it delivered to your room. For Luk Foo, I believe it’s only until 9PM, and 10PM for Waling-waling Cafe. You can scan the QR that will lead you to the price and menu. QR scans are placed both on their TVs and a physical one placed on the desk.

When ordering in-room services, they will inquire whether you will be paying through card, cash, or charge against your room, which you can pay later upon checkout.

Credit card promotions are not available for in-room services. Only available for dining in at their restaurants. Fast and accommodating service staff.

Food and Breakfast Buffet

We’ve tried ordering from Luk Foo Palace for dinner and having it delivered to our room. It did not disappoint. We ordered their siomai, fish tausi, and sweet and sour pork. The price point per rice meal is around P350, with siomai around P250 and a pineapple drink around P200. It was expensive, but the flavour of the dishes meets its price point. The food serving is also generous. However, if you are budgeting for meals, it would be more cost-efficient if you dined at SM Lanang. It is just a 10-minute walk from Acacia Hotel. The closest food establishments are UCC Cafe and Blue Posts.

Our next meal would be their breakfast buffet at Waling-waling Cafe. Their breakfast buffet is around P1,000-P1,500, depending on the day, if you just opt for dining and not checking in. Weekends have a higher price rate.

For their breakfast buffet, I’ll divide based on every section, per memory:

  • Bread station: It has a dedicated heater that can heat many breads at a time. Around 5-6 types of breads: plain, wheat, ube pandesal, muffins, pandesal, etc. Around four spreads, excluding the butter. More on the fruit jams.
  • Main Course Station: Five major dishes with two types of rice. Plain and garlic fried rice. At the time, we were served with beef bulgogi, chicken hamonado, longganisa, pork and beans, and buttered vegetables.
  • Egg Station: You can choose how you want your eggs made. Omelette, poached, scrambled, overhard, overeasy, etc. You can also order bacon upon request over at the egg station.
  • Fruit Station and Salad Station: They have fresh fruits and offer fruit detox mixes. They also serve fresh salads with multiple dressings.
  • Fry-ups Station: Fried food typically served at breakfast, like hot dogs and chicken ham. They also have French toast and pancakes at this station.
  • Native Salads: Personally, I can see mothers and health-conscious people lining up in this area. Typical Filipino salad ingredients like lato, tomatoes, blanched greens, and Filipino dressings like ginamos and bagoong.
  • Dried Fish Station: Yes, nothing makes me happier than seeing fried daing or dilis in a breakfast buffet.
  • Cereal Station: They only have two types of cereal. Fruit Loops and chocolate cereal. I don’t think they have options for milk. It’s only fresh milk.
  • Coffee and Tea/Beverage Station: They have brewed coffee, tea bags, and hot chocolate. They also have a selection of juices.
  • Soup Station: They have congee and chicken mami soup, or noodle soup, at the time.

Personally, I find their breakfast spread very expensive and does not justify the P1000-P1500 price with the variety they provide. Though the food is very good (quality- and flavour-wise), I was expecting a full buffet experience, with being bombarded with several options. I would expect some higher-quality bread options as well, like having mini croissants, Danish breads, and the like, but the bread station was just typical Filipino breads. At least provide more options for the main course as well. My experience with their buffet was OK, but it did not meet the high expectations brought to me by the online reviews for Acacia’s breakfast buffet.

The breakfast buffet starts at 6AM and ends at 10AM only. More people dine between 7 and 9AM.

Overall Impression

My stay at the Acacia Hotel was OK. Nothing really special or anything that quite impressed me. Services are good, but I did not feel they went above and beyond. Rooms are clean. The interior design of the rooms is okay, but not something that would “wow” you upon entry. Their hallways were less illuminated, though. Good placement of fire exits in case of emergency. I like the room inclusions, such as an ironing table and a flat iron. Signature soaps and products are just OK. The quality of the toiletries is good, especially the brushes. They have firm bristles, unlike other hotels that couldn’t really provide friction to teeth.

Spacious room with a sofa, which is nice. Great air conditioning. They have outdated television, and the channels are not working at all. You cannot log in to Netflix without having to screenshare. Breakfast buffet is not something I would rave about. Would go back to try more food at Luk Foo Palace, though. Wasn’t able to enjoy their pool as it was down for maintenance, and I don’t think it will open any time soon this month (as of writing, November 13, 2025).

Their hotel lobby and function rooms are spacious and pretty, though. For its price as a 4-star hotel, it’s okay, but I was expecting something grandiose. Perhaps, amenities could be upgraded and improve on the breakfast buffet selection to meet the expectation for a 4-star hotel. Really good location though if you are in here for business, as it is close to the airport, generally close to the business centers of Davao, and a walking distance to a mall for essentials.

Overall, it’s not the first option I would choose to go to for a staycation in Davao.
