If your mom is like my mom – a woman who would fight tooth and nail for her family, strong-willed yet always shows tenderness and nurturing care when it comes to her children, and a devoted and amazing wife to her husband, then she deserves the best!
However, if your mom is like mine, finding a good restaurant that will please her isn’t easy. It’s about the full experience, and what that means is that you have to check some boxes, like good ambiance, good food, and beautiful interiors that would be perfect to update their social media. Chances are, your mom would be tagging you or sharing restaurants they want to try in your family group chat already. This Mother’s Day, give in a little and spoil her.
But if you’re still struggling to look for restaurants in Davao to bring the whole family this Mother’s Day, I’ve prepared a list you can at least consider to avoid the decision fatigue.
- TOLA
- Sunday’s Modern Kitchen
- Malagos Homegrown Cafe
- Garden Bay Resort and Restaurant
- Hunter’s Kitchen
- The Emperor Hotpot & Dimsum
- Mombake’s

TOLA
Tola offers a thoughtfully curated menu of traditional and modern Filipino favorites. What makes this perfect for Mother’s Day is its elegant interior that exudes an old-world charm, as it is set within one of Davao’s heritage houses. It will definitely take you back to Sundays spent not only with your mom but also with your grandma. If your grandmother is the mother figure in your life, this makes for a particularly meaningful setting to celebrate her, with its warm and timeless ambiance. You can never go wrong with ordering their comforting soups, which are the inspiration behind their name, Tola (a shortened version of tinola).

Sunday’s Modern Kitchen
One of the restaurants that offers and provides modern home-cooking flavors is Sunday’s Modern Kitchen. This restaurant has always upheld the Filipino tradition of enjoying Sundays as a family day, thus the name Sunday’s Modern Kitchen. A lot of mothers in Davao would agree that as much as possible, Sundays are reserved for family gatherings, whether it be cooking a good meal for lunch or dinner or dining out. This Mother’s Day, let Sunday’s Modern Kitchen do all the cooking while you and the family sit back and relax. Their own take on humba and their weird twist for their Beef Tenders with sinigang na gravy is definitely something fun to try with the family.

Malagos Homegrown Cafe
If your mom and family enjoy the vibes of al fresco dining and want a slice of Davao’s Malagos Garden Resort but don’t have the luxury of time to travel to Calinan, then Malagos Homegrown Cafe would be a great pick for you. Great place to witness the sunset with the family as you celebrate Mother’s Day dinner. But if you don’t mind the summer heat and love the al fresco garden dining, then a lunch date with mom is also nice. Try out their cheese platters and their decadent Tableya cake if you have the extra space for dessert.

Hunter’s Kitchen
Sometimes it’s great to spice up the celebration a little by trying out new cuisine. Good thing Hunter’s Kitchen is a great place to fuse Filipino and Chinese flavors together. It’s a beautiful and seemingly upscale vibe that offers group dishes that moms would surely appreciate. The best time would be lunch, as the vibes feel a little different at night, but if you want a more laidback vibe and your mom wants to try out cocktails and chill lounge nights, then this place is a safe bet. The Emperor Hotpot & Dimsum
A more interactive food experience to try out with your mom and the family is at The Emperor Hotpot & Dimsum. It’s an eat-all-you-can shabu shabu style restaurant that is more soup adjacent. It allows the family to experience three different flavors of soup and cook together balls, noodles, and meat while you chat and catch up with life. There is fun in failing at making sauces and mixing, too, if you just allow yourself to. Note, they are still at a soft opening.

Sure, this may be an expensive place, but if you want good flavor and a balanced diet that will not compromise their lab results for the next day, this place is a nice option. Apart from its vegan and plant-based options, this place offers one of the best brunch meals in Davao.
